For Mark, the decision to leave teaching wasn’t taken lightly. Like many in education, he faced the daunting challenge of finding a career path that still utilised his strengths and passion. But when he came across the opportunity at Prospero, he recognised a perfect fit: a role that still valued his skills and allowed him to support schools and staff in a brand-new way.
His leap of faith, backed by his years of experience in education, paid off. From day one, Mark embraced the chance to do something different. He interviewed, joined the team, and hasn’t looked back since.
Mark’s time in schools gave him firsthand insight into the mounting pressures they face, from SEND provision and limited funding to rising behaviour challenges and increasing parental involvement. Now working from the other side, he’s helping Prospero provide schools with the solutions they need.
“It’s clear we offer services which schools value,” Mark explains. “My key takeaway from all of this is how Prospero maintains such strong relationships with schools, when they need our services, they return. And as our services grow, so will our ability to help.”
As Head of Training and Development, Mark is leading an ambitious and exciting new chapter for Prospero Learning. His vision includes:
Expanding candidate attraction tools to secure more high-quality professionals
Helping non-using clients discover Prospero through brand recognition and targeted business development
Launching training for the Health and Social Care sector, replicating the proven success seen in the education space
Upskilling internal staff through consistent and impactful training delivery
Mark’s strategic focus is clear: deliver value not just to schools and candidates, but also to colleagues within the wider Prospero Group.
Mark’s advice for anyone starting at Prospero? Dive in and get to know your team as quickly as possible. “This is a multi-faceted organisation with so much going on. The more you understand about the company’s functions, the more successful you’ll be,” he advises. “Don’t be afraid of asking questions—however big or small.”
Shifting from a school environment into a corporate setting was, naturally, a big change. But Mark credits the welcoming culture at Prospero for making the transition seamless.
“From day one, colleagues have been incredibly friendly and supportive,” he shares. “Showing me the basics, sharing their time, and encouraging my ideas—it all goes such a long way. I’ve learned a lot since joining, and I truly appreciate the time people have given me.”
