Supporting Disadvantaged Children through the National Tutoring Programme (NTP)

Post by: Prospero | January 05, 2023

What is the NTP Tutoring Programme?

The NTP was created by the Department for Education in response to the learning loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Through NTP tutoring, schools in England can access tuition for their students with 70% of the costs covered by the government. Prospero Teaching is proud to be an approved NTP partner, helping schools nationwide to access this funding and provide market-leading tuition for as little as £9.30 per hour.

In March 2022, the Department for Education made an announcement to simplify the educational program for the upcoming academic year 2022-2023. They are dedicating £349 million in core funding directly to schools, giving them the liberty to choose the best approach for providing students with tutoring services. Thus, during the academic year 2022-2023, schools will be granted NTP funding for the three tutoring routes, including tuition partners, academic mentors, and school-led tutoring.

Types of NTP Funding Available:

There are three pillars of funding that schools can access through the NTP: tuition partners, academic mentors, and school-led tutoring. Tuition funding allows schools to book 15-hour blocks of tuition, with the government covering 70% of the cost and the school responsible for the remaining 30%. School-led funding grants schools a pool of money to spend on tuition, which can be delivered by internal school staff.
