General Classroom Teaching Assistant Mainstream Primary School

Prospero Teaching is currently recruiting for General Classroom Teaching Assistants to work within mainstream primary schools across the North Birmingham area.

Location: North Birmingham
Position: General Classroom Teaching Assistant
Hours: 8:30 am 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday (term time only)
Type of Work: General classroom support within a mainstream primary school
Contract/Position Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Long-term, Short-term, and Daily Supply
Full Time/Part Time: Full time
Minimum Rate of Pay: Negotiable

About the Role:
These roles involve working closely with class teachers to support the learning and development of pupils across the primary age range. You will assist in delivering engaging lessons, providing one-to-one or small-group support where needed, and promoting a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

We offer flexible opportunities including long-term placements, short-term cover, and daily supply workideal for experienced TAs or individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils learning under the guidance of the class teacher
  • Deliver targeted interventions and support classroom activities
  • Help prepare learning materials and maintain an organised classroom
  • Assist with behaviour management and emotional support
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience supporting children in a school or educational setting
  • A proactive, flexible, and supportive approach to learning
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, patient, and encouraging manner
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) is desirable

Requirements to Work with Prospero Teaching:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold a valid, enhanced child barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one)
  • Provide two child-related professional references covering the last two years
