Specialist Intervention & Higher-Level Teaching Assistant – Fareham

Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated Specialist Intervention & Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our client’s special school in Fareham. This role is based within the school’s specialist provision, designed to support students aged 7 to 16 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges and associated complex needs.

About the Provision

This unique programme is designed to help students reconnect with learning, offering a child-centred approach focused on relationship-building, trust, and personal development. It provides an alternative learning environment, where young people can feel safe, valued, and supported, away from the pressures of mainstream education.

We welcome applications from experienced LSAs/TAs, as well as those with backgrounds in psychology, therapeutic support, coaching, or life skills development. Prior experience working 1:1 with pupils is highly desirable.

About the Role

  • Location: Fareham
  • Start Date: ASAP / September 2025
  • Contract Type: Full-time
  • Pay Rate: From £23,000 – £28,000 per annum
  • Hours: 8:30 am – 3:30 pm (subject to variation)

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working 1:1 with pupils, supporting their personal and academic development.
  • Has a background in psychology, therapy, coaching, or life skills training, bringing valuable strategies for student support.
  • Is passionate about helping students rebuild trust in adults and the education system.
  • Thrives on building meaningful relationships with young people who may have disengaged from traditional schooling.
  • Is flexible and proactive, ready to step in when needed, offering personalised support.
  • Understands safeguarding procedures and ensures a safe, inclusive learning environment.

What You’ll Need to Apply

  • Right to work in the UK
  • An enhanced child-barred list DBS certificate, registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Two professional child-related references
