We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team at a Great Barr school.
As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of special educational needs, helping them to thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and group support to students with special needs.
• Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
• Support students during lessons, ensuring they are engaged and making progress.
• Help with personal care and mobility where required.
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator), and other staff to ensure the best outcomes for students.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting independence and self-confidence in students.
• Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and assist in assessments.

About You:

We are looking for someone who is passionate, patient, and proactive, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A teaching assistant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Diploma or equivalent) or experience working with children with special needs.
• Experience working with children with a range of learning needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
• Knowledge: Understanding of special educational needs, including behavioural, emotional, and cognitive challenges.
• Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and staff.
• Compassion and Patience: A genuine passion for helping children succeed and thrive, with a calm and empathetic approach.
• Desirable: First Aid training, Team-Teach or other behaviour management training is a bonus.
