SEND Specialist Tutor Job – 1:1, Coventry (CV2)

Prospero Teaching is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Specialist Tutor to provide 1:1 tailored tuition for a wonderful Year 12 student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Global Developmental Delay.

The Opportunity
We are searching for an inspirational tutor to work with a delightful and engaging young person who thrives with structure, creativity, and patience. The role is more than traditional tutoring-its an opportunity to create a fun, engaging learning environment both indoors and through exciting educational outings.

About the Student:

Communicates using basic speech, Makaton, and a communication book.
Responds well to Intensive Interaction techniques and visual aids.
Goals focus on improving language skills, self-help abilities, and participation in activities they enjoy.
Thrives in 1:1 settings with clear routines but may be sensitive to loud noises or unexpected changes.

Role Highlights:

Location: A Community Centre in CV2 and nearby locations for outings.
Hours: 16-18 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 10 AM and 2 PM (flexible).
Support: Youll be assisted by a support worker responsible for personal care, allowing you to focus solely on the students educational and developmental progress.
Engagement: The role includes activities like zoo visits, swimming sessions, and hydropools to promote independence and enjoyment.
As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will design and deliver engaging, tailored lessons that align with the students EHCP goals and foster a sense of achievement.

Contract/Position Details:

Location: Coventry, CV2
Position: SEND Specialist Tutor
Type of Work: 1:1 tuition with SEND student
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Ongoing until the student transitions to a full school timetable
Contract Type: Temporary
Part-Time: 16-18 hours per week
Pay: Minimum GBP30 per hour (negotiable depending on experience)

Experience, Training, and Qualifications Required:

  • QTS or equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience with SEND, particularly ASD and Global Developmental Delay
  • Training in PECS or Makaton (preferred but not essential)
  • Creativity, patience, and flexibility to adapt activities
  • Experience working with students with challenging behaviour or anxiety

Eligibility:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced child DBS certificate on the update service (or willingness to process one)
  • Two professional child-related references
