Experience SEN Outreach Tutors needed in Havering.

About the Role

Prospero Teaching is seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Outreach Tutor to provide 1:1 bespoke education packages to students who are currently not in mainstream school across the Havering area.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated specialist who thrives on building meaningful relationships and delivering personalised, engaging lessons to students with a range of additional needs. Many of the young people you’ll support will have experienced barriers to education and may present with low confidence or challenging behaviours.

As a tutor, you’ll play a key role in re-engaging these learners, rebuilding their confidence, and supporting their educational progress through a structured and nurturing approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lessons that support individual learning goals
  • Engage and motivate learners who may have SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
  • Implement Team Teach strategies to ensure safe and positive learning environments
  • Track progress and adapt teaching to suit the learner’s needs
  • Communicate effectively with schools, parents/carers, and Prospero Teaching’s support team

Contract Details

  • Location: Havering and surrounding areas
  • Position: SEN Outreach Tutor
  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Contract Type: Temporary, flexible working
  • Duration: Ongoing, depending on student needs
  • Hours: Minimum 1 hour per session, up to 3 hours per student per day
  • Rate: From £25 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or relevant teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, EYFS)
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience working in a UK educational setting
  • Strong experience working with SEN/SEMH students
  • Team Teach certification (must be valid and in date)
  • Ability to plan engaging, differentiated sessions based on learner need

Desirable:

  • Up-to-date Safeguarding training (can be provided)
  • Experience with pupils out of school or in alternative provisions

To Be Eligible, You Must

  • Have the Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Provide two recent child-related professional references
