PMLD Teacher (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities)

About the PMLD Teaching Role:
As a PMLD Teacher, you will deliver bespoke learning programmes tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure the educational, emotional, and physical development of learners, enabling them to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of a PMLD Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver highly personalised lessons, incorporating sensory and therapeutic approaches.
  • Use a range of communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, or AAC, to engage and support students.
  • Monitor and assess progress, maintaining detailed records and adjusting plans to meet individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to provide a holistic approach to education.
  • Promote independence, life skills, and self-confidence in students.

The successful PMLD Teaching candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working with children or young people with PMLD.
  • Knowledge of strategies and resources for supporting students with sensory and physical disabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Resilience and creativity in adapting to the unique challenges of working with PMLD students.

Position Details:

  • Position: PMLD Teacher
  • Hours: 0830 – 1530
  • Type of Work: Temporary
  • Full time/Part time: Full time only
  • Minimum Rate of Pay: Paid to Scale
  • Start date: Feb 2025
  • End date: Ongoing

Experience, Training & Qualifications:

  • Personal or professional experience supporting complex needs
  • Up to date Safeguarding certificate within the last year (desired but training can be provided)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
