Location: Surbiton, South West London
Pay Rate: £25-£35 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
Hours: 15 hours per week (7.5 hrs Maths / 7.5 hrs English)
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Sessions to take place during the school day

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 tuition in GCSE Maths and English (7.5 hours per subject, per week).
  • Adapt teaching methods to support the learner’s individual learning profile, emotional needs, and sensory sensitivities.
  • Use PDA-informed strategies to create a low-demand, safe learning environment that encourages engagement.
  • Develop and follow a flexible, structured lesson plan that aligns with curriculum, expectations while being sensitive to the student’s emotional state.
  • Collaborate with families and professionals to monitor progress and maintain consistent support.

Essential Requirements:

  • Proven experience teaching or tutoring GCSE Maths and/or English
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children with ASD
  • PDA experience- understanding of how to work with children with demand avoidance behaviours.
  • Availability to deliver sessions during the school day.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Have or be wiling to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Teaching qualification (PGCE and/or QTS)
  • Experience working in alternative provision, SEN settings, or with non-traditional learners.
  • Confidence in managing behaviours linked to anxiety, demand avoidance, or sensory processing challenges.
