Location: Bury
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-time | Permanent / Long-Term
Pay Rate: £168-£232 per day (dependent on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm


Role Overview

A well-respected secondary school in the Bury area is seeking to appoint a Food Technology Teacher to join its Design & Technology department from September 2026.

The school is committed to delivering a practical and engaging curriculum that supports creativity, independence, and essential life skills. This role would suit a teacher who enjoys combining theory with hands-on learning in a well-resourced setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Food Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Deliver both practical and theory-based lessons, including nutrition and food safety
  • Assess and track pupil progress, using outcomes to inform planning
  • Prepare students for GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition, where applicable
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and well-managed teaching kitchen
  • Contribute to departmental planning and enrichment activities

Person Specification

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent qualification
  • Have experience teaching Food Technology or related DT subjects at secondary level
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge in nutrition, food preparation, and hygiene
  • Be confident managing practical lessons and classroom behaviour
  • Show enthusiasm for engaging pupils through practical learning
  • Work effectively as part of a collaborative department

Essential Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two professional references related to working with children or young people
