Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:00pm


The School

A well-regarded secondary school in Bolton is seeking to appoint a skilled and committed English Teacher to join its English department from September 2026.

The school maintains high academic standards and places strong emphasis on literacy, pupil engagement, and inclusive teaching. Staff benefit from clear leadership, structured support, and a positive working culture.


Purpose of the Role

To deliver high-quality English teaching that supports pupils’ progress in English Language and Literature, fostering confident communication, analytical thinking, and strong written skills across Key Stages 3 and 4. Opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 may be available for suitably experienced candidates.


Key Accountabilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective English lessons aligned with the national curriculum
  • Plan, assess, and monitor pupil progress to inform future teaching
  • Prepare pupils for GCSE examinations and support strong outcomes
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and classroom engagement
  • Contribute to departmental development and curriculum planning
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and pastoral teams

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching English within a secondary school environment
  • Secure subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • Commitment to raising attainment and supporting pupil development

Compliance & Safeguarding

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • Two professional references relating to work with young people
