Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate and motivated Sports Coach & Teaching Assistant to join our network of schools across Rochdale. This unique role combines the opportunity to support students in their academic learning while also delivering dynamic sports coaching sessions.

About the Role:
As a Sports Coach & Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with primary school teachers to support students learning and personal development. You’ll also lead and deliver engaging sports activities, helping children improve their fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working with children and has a passion for sports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons, providing individual and small group assistance where needed.
  • Lead sports sessions and encourage student participation in physical activities, fostering a love for sports.
  • Help students with their social, emotional, and academic development, offering guidance and support as needed.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Assist with managing classroom behaviour and creating a positive, structured learning environment.
  • Support the planning and organisation of extra-curricular activities and school events.

About You:

  • Experience working with children in an educational or sports setting is ideal.
  • Passionate about sports and able to inspire children to get active and enjoy physical activity.
  • Great communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive, adaptable attitude and a real desire to help children succeed.
  • A Level 2/3 qualification in Sports Coaching (or a related field) is desirable, but not essential.
  • Must hold or be willing to undergo a DBS check (Prospero can assist with this).
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
