Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs to thrive in education and beyond?

Prospero Teaching are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Practitioner to join our specialist team at a SEN school in Ringwood. This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of our students by helping them overcome barriers to learning, develop positive behaviours, and build the confidence and strategies they need to succeed.

Location: SEN school in Ringwood
Salary: £13.96 depending on experience (competitive rates)
Contract: Full time Temp-Perm
Start Date: 3rd of September

About the Role:

As a PBS Practitioner, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to implement effective positive behaviour support strategies. Your role will be key in supporting students to:

  • Engage confidently with learning and their peer group, maximising their opportunities for success throughout the school day.
  • Develop coping strategies for transitions and new experiences, broadening their access to learning and meaningful activities.
  • Build self-awareness and emotional regulation, empowering them to self-manage their behaviour over time.
  • Reflect on and learn from challenges, fostering an inclusive culture with empathetic understanding and support.
  • Model and coach best practice, working closely with staff to ensure consistent implementation of PBS strategies across settings.
  • Understand social expectations, supporting students to distinguish between right and wrong and develop socially acceptable behaviours for adulthood.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (especially SEMH) is essential.
  • Training in Positive Behaviour Support or relevant approaches is desirable.
  • A background in education, social care, psychology, or behaviour support would be advantageous.
  • A Right to Work in the UK
  • DBS (on the update service) or willingness to apply for one
