PMLD Teacher

About the school:
This is an Outstanding specialist provision supporting children and young people aged 2 to 19 with physical disabilities, sensory needs and profound and multiple learning difficulties. The school offers modern facilities, integrated therapy teams and a highly supportive staff environment focused on communication, care and personalised learning.

About the role:
You will lead a small PMLD class, delivering sensory based learning, supporting complex medical and care needs and working closely with therapists and specialist support staff. You will promote communication through AAC methods including PODD, eye gaze, switches and symbol systems.

• Plan and deliver personalised learning
• Create a safe, nurturing and engaging environment
• Support pupils with medical and personal care needs
• Work collaboratively with multi disciplinary teams
• Build positive relationships with families and carers

Requirements –
The ideal candidate would have:

• Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent
• Experience teaching PMLD or complex SEND
• Knowledge of sensory curriculum approaches
• Understanding of AAC systems or willingness to learn
• Strong communication, patience and resilience
• A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
