About the Role

As a Maths and English Tutor, you will play a vital role in helping students build confidence, close learning gaps, and achieve their academic goals. Your expertise will allow you to adapt lesson plans to suit individual needs, ensuring that each session is engaging, supportive, and effective.

This flexible role is ideal for someone who values autonomy and wants to make a genuine difference in the lives of young learners, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver personalised, one-to-one tuition in Maths and English at GCSE level.
  • Create engaging and adaptive lesson plans that cater to individual learning styles and needs.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to parents, guardians, and other stakeholders.
  • Build a supportive and motivational learning environment that fosters academic growth.
  • Tailor teaching methods to support students with SEN, ensuring inclusivity and understanding.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience in Maths and English at GCSE level.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one).

Desired Qualities

  • PGCE in Maths or English or QTS status.
  • Experience working with SEN children, using a compassionate and flexible approach to meet their needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and families.
  • Passion for education and a commitment to helping students reach their full potential.
