SEN Teaching Assistant Required in New Malden (South London) – Immediate Start

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting for a Humanities Teacher to join an Ofsted “Good” Special School. The position will involve providing classroom support to students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis, this will be a full-time, long-term position starting immediately.

About the school:
The school is a specialist school catering for pupils in years 5-11 years all with EHCP’s. Students have primarily high functioning ASD, communication or complex needs. Focusing on a nurturing environment working alongside CAMHS, Speech and Language therapists, Occupational therapists, educational psychologists, Social Workers and Mentors.

Position: Humanities Teacher

School Type: Independent Specialist Behavioural Needs School (PRU)

Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Full Time, 5 days per week

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: Paid according to experience

Location: Mitcham, CR3

Contract: Long-term with potential to turn into a permanent

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in Humanities subjects tailored to the needs of students with SEMH.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment to support students’ social and emotional development.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback and support where needed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and parents to enhance the learning experience.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience teaching children with special educational needs (SEN), particularly in an SEMH setting.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A current DBS check registered on the Update Service.
  • The right to work in the UK.
