SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Full-Time – £120 – £150 Per Day – Redbridge, London

Are you an experienced SEN professional looking for a new challenge? We are seeking a SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to provide full-time 1:1 support for a secondary school student with autism in Redbridge.

This exciting role begins in January 2025 and offers the opportunity to make a lasting difference in the life of a bright, capable student who thrives with the right support and strategies.

About the SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant Role:

  • Position: SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (1:1)
  • Location: Secondary school in Redbridge
  • Start Date: January 2025
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, full-time (term-time only)
  • Pay: £120 – £150 per day (umbrella rate)

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver tailored 1:1 support to a secondary school student with autism, focusing on academic progress, self-regulation, and social interaction.
  • Implement and adapt strategies including PBS (Positive Behaviour Support), TEACCH, Attention Autism, and ABA (Applied Behaviour Analysis) to support the student’s needs effectively.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and specialists to develop and maintain consistent routines and intervention plans.
  • Support the student’s emotional and behavioural needs using evidence-based approaches.
  • Contribute to a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.

About the Successful SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience: Extensive experience working with children with complex behavioural and learning needs, particularly those with autism.
  • Training: Knowledge of and experience in implementing strategies such as ABA, PBS, TEACCH, Attention Autism, or similar methodologies.
  • Skills: Strong communication, adaptability, and the ability to build trust with the student, family, and school staff.
  • Qualities: A patient, calm, and proactive individual who is passionate about empowering students to achieve their potential.
