A specialist SEN school in Wigan is seeking a motivated and committed Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, alongside associated behavioural challenges. The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant

As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils aged 11-16 who require additional behavioural and emotional support. You will provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping students regulate behaviour, engage with learning, and build positive routines.

A key part of this Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant role will involve managing challenging behaviour in a calm, consistent manner, using structured strategies to de-escalate situations and promote positive outcomes. Building strong, trusting relationships will be essential in helping pupils feel safe and supported.
