Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, based on experience and responsibilities
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm

About the School

We are working with a welcoming and inclusive SEN secondary school in Rochdale that supports students aged 11-19 with a range of additional needs, including some Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) requirements. The school is committed to providing a nurturing, structured, and positive environment where every learner can achieve their potential.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs to make a meaningful difference every day.

What We’re Looking For:

A SEN Teaching Assistant who can/has:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional needs, including SEMH.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and differentiated learning activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour, routines, and emotional regulation strategies.
  • Help track progress and work closely with teachers, support staff, and families to ensure consistency in support.
  • Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in learners across the secondary age range.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs (school, care, or youth setting).
  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting learning and managing behaviour.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Knowledge of SEN and SEMH strategies, with the ability to adapt to individual needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, care, or support are desirable but not essential.

To be eligible you must:

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply).
  • Two professional references (preferably from child-related roles).
