About the Role:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our vibrant and supportive secondary school community in Sheffield. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience and departmental needs.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, providing constructive feedback to support learning.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and participate in departmental planning and meetings.
  • Support students in developing strong literacy skills, critical thinking, and a love for literature.
  • Participate in school events, parent evenings, and extracurricular activities as required.
  • Uphold the school’s values, policies, and safeguarding procedures.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK.
  • A degree in English or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching English at secondary level.
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching English Literature and Language at GCSE and/or A-Level.
  • Familiarity with current educational research and best practices in English teaching.
  • Willingness to contribute to extracurricular activities such as drama, creative writing, or reading clubs.
