Prospero teaching are currently seeking candidates who are interested in becoming Learning Support Assistant’s to work at an innovative alternative provision free school which provides education for students in Key Stages 3 and 4 who have been excluded, or who are at risk of exclusion, from their mainstream schools.
Typically, these students have a poor record of attendance and behaviour at their previous schools, low levels of attainment and poor perceptions of themselves as learners.

What does the Learning Support Assistant role involve?
To assist teachers to work with students, many of whom will display social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, within the provision and assist in reintegrating them into a mainstream school where appropriate.
What is the purpose of my role as a Learning Support Assistant?
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be exposed to students of various abilities, you will need to analyse data and build up your ability to raise attainment using skills, lesson plans, numeracy and literacy tasks to raise attainment. Again, this will build your knowledge of how students are monitored, data is analysed and attainment is raised and students are managed more effectively by teachers. As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll learn and implement strategies to support students engage with the curriculum.
What will Prospero and the school do to help me if I have no experience?
As a new member of staff, you will be given an induction by Prospero and allocated a line manager in the school, usually the Higher Learning Teaching Assistant and SENCO. These people will provide you with extensive guidance and support, you will also be supported by Prospero. Regular meetings and CPD training sessions are offered by Prospero and the school to ensure you are learning, growing and developing within the Teaching Assistant role.
