English Teacher

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Secondary English Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in the Bury area. This role is ideal for both experienced teachers and confident ECTs looking to develop their career within a well-established and forward-thinking school environment.

This role is to start after the Easter half term with the view to continue till July 2026.

Position Details

Location: Bury

Role: Secondary English Teacher

Key Stages: KS3 & KS4

Start Date: 20th April 2026

Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary or Temp-to-Perm

Pay: £168.00 – £233.00 per day (Paid to Scale – PTS)

Role Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Plan, prepare, and assess lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
  • Support students of varying abilities, including those with additional learning needs
  • Work collaboratively with the English department and wider school staff
  • Contribute to departmental planning, enrichment activities, and wider school life

Experience, Training & Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Experience teaching English in a UK secondary school (ECTs encouraged to apply)
  • Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for English
  • Up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to complete this)

Requirements

  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
  • Two professional references covering the last two years
