Job description

English Intervention – Glossop

Are you graduating in English with a good classification? Are you looking for work in education?

We are working exclusively with a ‘Good’ Secondary school in Glossop, who are looking for a recent English graduate, who may be looking to pursue a career in education or wishing to embark on a PGCE in the future to work in the English department as a tutor and teaching assistant. The role will start in September, it will be part time and will be for the whole of the upcoming academic year until they break for summer in July 2024.

This is a role for individual that wants to move into the education system by being English Intervention. You will be responsible for supporting pupils within the English department in key stage 3 & 4, you will also have a small timetable (these are called intervention groups) where you will provide intensive support to small groups of learners. You will formulate a superb understanding of the curriculum at KS3 & 4 English, which will bode well for their future studies. You will be supported by outstanding teachers and a strong, highly recognised leadership team.

The pupils are proud of their school and show kindness and respect to each other, with a strong understanding that the staff do care about their wellbeing. The leadership has high expectations which are met by the students, resulting in a calm and orderly school environment. Classroom routines are well established and backed up by a strong reward system that the students enjoy. There is also a strong community feeling in the school: with outreach to a local care home, donation of money to local projects and charity further afield.
