Mark your calendars, everyone! Safer Internet Day 2024 is just around the corner, and we at Prospero Teaching are thrilled to be part of this important initiative. Set to take place on the 6th of February 2024, Safer Internet Day is a movement dedicated to fostering a safer, more positive online environment for children and young people.

Coordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre, Safer Internet Day brings together thousands of organizations, including Prospero Teaching, to champion the safe, responsible, and positive use of digital technology among children and young people.

This year, the theme is all about ‘Inspiring Change? Making a difference, managing influence, and navigating change online.’ At Prospero Teaching, we believe in the power of education and empowerment, and this theme resonates perfectly with our commitment to creating a safer online space for children and young people – see below for news on our new Prospero Learning internet safety course.

Why Safer Internet Day Matters

Due to the rapid advancement of the internet, online safety concerns for children and young adults have grown hugely and will continue to do so.

In 2024, it’s critically important that all educators have a deep understanding of all online platforms, spaces and apps. Completing online safety training allows educators to increase their ability to keep children safe online.

Safer Internet Day is the UK’s most significant celebration of online safety, addressing the evolving challenges and opportunities presented by the digital landscape.

The focus is shaped by the input from young people across the UK, ensuring that the issues that matter most to them are addressed.

Key focus areas for 2024 include:

  • Young People’s Perspectives on New Technology: Understanding and navigating the ever-changing world of technology.
  • Using the Internet for Positive Change: Encouraging positive online behavior and leveraging the internet for the better.
  • Young People’s Desires for a Safer Online World: Exploring the changes they want to see in the digital realm.
  • Influences on Young Minds Online and Offline: Recognizing factors that shape young people’s thoughts, feelings, and actions in both online and offline spaces.

Our Commitment at Prospero Teaching

At Prospero Teaching, we understand the importance of fostering a secure online environment. As a leading education recruitment agency, we are not only dedicated to providing excellent teaching opportunities but also committed to promoting online safety within the education sector.
