Prospero Teaching is delighted to announce a partnership with Calzaghe’s Mini Dragons non-contact boxing programme for young people.
The Calzaghe family recognise that young people are spending more time at home engaging with technology and that this can have a detrimental effect on mental health and well-being.
To combat this, world champion super middle-weight boxer, Joe Calzaghe, devised this programme to support young people’s health and well-being. In particular, sessions focus on boosting self-esteem and promoting an active lifestyle.
Prepared in line with the Health and Well-being area of Learning and Experience from the New Curriculum for Wales, this programme aims to deliver fun, engaging and energetic sessions to develop healthy, confident individuals.
12-week programme: The Calzaghe Mini Dragons consists of 12-week programmes that can be delivered to KS1, KS2, KS3 and KS4. They have also delivered for children with behaviour challenges as well as those with low self-esteem.
“Boxing definitely has a part to play in taking away that unwanted aggression.” – Joe Calzaghe
Programme details: Mapped against the curriculum by the Calzaghe family and a team of teachers each session includes exercise, non-contact boxing skills, and games as well as activities to build core morals and positive behaviours. The programme is focused on developing individuals’ self-worth as well as empathy for others.
We are so excited to get started in partnership with Calzaghe’s Mini Dragons. Keep posted on our social media feeds to see the incredible work the Mini Dragons team are delivering in schools across Wales.
