 Prospero Teaching is looking for Teaching Assistant to work in a ‘Good with outstanding features’ secondary school in Enfield

The school is a large, outstanding secondary school located in Enfield educating both male and female students.

The school is a mainstream school and has a SEN Department like all schools do and they require a teaching assistant to support learners on a 1:1 basis with learning needs. One of the students does require 1:1 support and sometimes requires support in toileting but does require more academic support.

We are seeking someone for at least 1 academic year with a chance of becoming permanent in the future, there is also potential for growth and development.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have a degree or experience or knowledge of Special Needs. Someone who might have worked in care, someone who wishes to pursue a career in Psychology or educational psychology, speech and language or has a genuine interest in working within Special Educational Needs. As well as supporting a female student on a 1:1 basis the SEN Teaching Assistant would be attached to a class, supporting in and out of the classroom. There will always be 1 class teacher and the class teacher would give you support and guidance to ensure you are aware of the lesson, how the lesson is prepared, delivered and thought about. The school are keen to ensure that wherever possible SEN Teaching Assistant are being nurtured and developed.

The position is open to both inexperienced staff and staff who have experience. Knowledge of Autism, Learning Needs, Speech and Language needs and Profound and Multiple Learning difficulties would be a huge advantage but not 100% necessary.

Duration:                            1 year

Contract:                           starting ASAP – end of the July 2022 – possibly longer term

Term:                                  Full-time

Pay:                                       £85 per day

Hours:                                 8:00 am – 3.45pm, plus parents evenings

Teaching Assistants experience, training, and qualification

  • Experience or interest in Special Educational Needs – Autism, Speech, and Language Needs
  • Strong command of English
  • Degree would be great
  • Experience within health care would be great
  • Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (this training can be offered by Prospero)

To be eligible for this Teaching Assistant role:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child related references
