About the job

Prospero Teaching is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant with in-depth knowledge of SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), and experience supporting children with SEN on a 1:1 basis. The position is to support a child in Key Stage 2 in a primary school in Manchester. The child requires full-time 1:1 support for social, emotional and communication needs. The school is looking for someone who can be resilient and independent in building a good working relationship with the child. The child is based in his mainstream classroom full-time, and needs support to understand and manage his emotions and responses to situations. You will need to be a patient and calm person who is skilled at reading situations and helping the child understand appropriate reactions. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will need to be able to explain situations and reason with the child to help their understanding and development.

Staff are supportive, and you will be working within a team of teachers and TAs, planning and evaluating provision and suitable interventions.

The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will have the following:

  • Suitable Teaching Assistant or SEN qualification
  • UK classroom experience
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • References covering the last 12 months
  • A fully enhanced DBS on the online update service, or be prepared to process a new one at a cost of £45.80
