ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Prospero Teaching is looking for a Subject Lead of Physics to join an Ofsted Outstanding secondary school in Islington on a full-time basis starting SEPTEMBER 2022.

The school is large, mixed, faith, secondary school located in Barnet and offers parking and is well located within good transport links.

The school is seeking an outstanding teacher and Subject Lead of Physics to lead Physics’ within this Ofsted Outstanding secondary school as this is a very popular subject at A Level.

• The schools overall progress 8 score is 61 which is above the national average.
• GCSE Science is taught following AQA trilogy and Separate Sciences.
• The Physics department follow the AQA exam board

INFORMATION ABOUT THE SUBJECT LEAD OF PHYSICS ROLE:

Job Title – Subject Leader – Physics

Responsible to – Director of Learning Science

Responsible for – Teaching students and managing staff – Physics subject area

Teaching Science and Physics to ensure all students are taught and make progress and develop their skills, subject knowledge and understanding of Physics. As Subject Lead of Physics you will need to lead and coordinate with teaching staff, parents, SLT members and other people to ensure the right education is delivered. You will also support the Director or Learning for Science within framework of national, local and school policies.

SUBJECT LEAD PHYSICS WILL NEED TO BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Progress of students within Key stage 5
• Promote development of this subject
• Leadership of colleagues and support teachers progress, record keeping and data management and more
• To perform duties and attend meetings as reasonably required.
• An excellent classroom practitioner who leads by example
• Skilled at reviewing, monitoring and evaluating progress and results, target monitoring
• To ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date information concerning the relevant area of responsibility on the management information system/ shared area.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND QUALIFICATIONS – SUBJECT LEADER OF PHYSICS

BEd / PGCE/ QTS or equivalent teaching degree

Solid teaching background specialising in Physics

Up to date Safeguarding training issued in the last year

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS SUBJECT LEADER OF PHYSICS JOB THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold right to work in the UK

Be able to work a minimum of 5 FULL days Monday – Friday

Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application

Provide two professional child related references
