Speech & Language Graduate

Prospero Teaching are working closely with a Primary School in Oldham who are looking to appoint a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support 2 pupils within KS1 with speech and language difficulties and communication delay.

It is desired but not essential that the successful candidate has a Speech and Language qualification. This position is a full time, long term role, with the potential of a permanent contract. The role is to start in February 2022.

The Role

You will be supporting the children full time 5 days a week and if possible you will be able to lead intervention lessons following the Elklan speech and language scheme.

You will also be required to support other pupils and working in small groups when required. You will be an integral part of the KS1 team and liaise with the class teacher to ensure the pupil is getting the most suitable support and is able to access learning.

To join us and be successful in this Teaching Assistant role, you will need to:

• Hold an Elklan Qualification
• Experience of working with children with SEN and in particular, Speech & Language
• You will ideally have knowledge and experience of Speech & Language resources, schemes and support mechanisms such as pictorial systems, visual timetables and now & next cards
• Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable)
