We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapists to support a Local Authority in Wandsworth by delivering specialist communication intervention for children with EHCPs who are currently without an educational placement. The role involves a blend of direct therapy, indirect support, and collaborative planning with families and professionals to ensure continuity of provision while children await suitable placements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct speech and language therapy to children with EHCPs in home or community settings.
  • Deliver indirect intervention including programmes, coaching, and strategy support for families and carers.
  • Carry out specialist communication assessments to inform ongoing provision and placement planning.
  • Contribute clear, outcome‑focused updates for EHCP reviews and monitoring.
  • Liaise with families, SEN teams, and external professionals to support high‑quality decision‑making around placement and provision.
  • Maintain accurate clinical notes and adhere to safeguarding and professional standards.

Requirements

  • BSc/MSc in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC registration (essential).
  • Minimum 2 years’ paediatric experience, ideally across community or education settings.
  • Experience supporting children with SEND and contributing to EHCP processes.
  • Strong assessment, therapy planning, and report‑writing skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Professional indemnity & public liability insurance.

Desirable

  • RCSLT membership.
  • Experience working with children out of school, in early years, mainstream, or specialist settings.
  • Knowledge of autism, speech sound disorders, language disorder, or AAC.
  • Experience delivering training or coaching to families or support staff.

Additional Information

  • Consultancy position with flexible hours, varying according to each child’s needs.
  • Travel within Wandsworth to homes or community settings may be required.
  • All safeguarding and vetting checks must be completed prior to starting.
