About the ideal Special Needs Teaching Assistant:

Prospero Teaching are actively seeking Special Needs Teaching Assistants with experience working with children and adults with the special needs. We have a role suitable for a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to work in a school supporting students with mental and physical health needs. The ideal Special Needs Teaching Assistant will be motivated, resourceful individuals who are committed to support people with mental health needs.

Experience working with Autism, Behaviour Needs, Wheelchair bound students is desirable but not essential.

The ideal Special Needs Teaching Assistant will:

  • Experience with learning needs
  • Experience supporting young people with learning needs
  • Understanding of the needs of young people with Autism, Behaviour Needs
  • Able to support young people with special needs
  • Be able to support young people with mental health needs
  • Be non-judgmental, forward-thinking, and passionate about mental health.
  • Have a good understanding of mental illness gained through work, volunteering or personal experience.
  • Be highly motivated and committed to improving our service users’ experience

The ideal Special Needs Teaching Assistant will:

  • Have experience working with special needs
  • Have an interest in working with students with learning and special needs
  • Be able to work with people with learning needs
  • Able to work effectively with sensitive and often confidential information
  • Be a calm and nurturing person
