Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm

About the School

We are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in the Prestwich area, seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Assistant from September 2026.

The school is committed to inclusive education and provides a supportive and structured environment where all pupils are encouraged to achieve their potential. With a strong focus on wellbeing, pastoral care, and tailored support, the school prides itself on fostering positive relationships and ensuring every student feels valued.

The Role

As a Special Needs Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and develop both academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
  • Support pupils with their academic, social, and emotional development
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a structured learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN (desirable)
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • Be confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Show a proactive and flexible approach to supporting student needs
  • Work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two professional references relating to working with children or young people
