SEN Support Worker Required for specialist provision in Barnsley.

A specialist SEN School in Barnsley are seeking a Support Worker to commence September 2022.
The school provides alternative education for learners aged 2-19 with a wide range of Special Educational Needs including Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC), Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
You will be part of a dynamic team of experienced SEN Teachers, Learning Support Staff, Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. You will be expected to liaise with this multi-disciplinary team to help develop individual support plans and reports, and to contribute to and implement Educational, Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
This is a challenging and demanding role which requires an experienced candidate with a passion for supporting the development of young people with additional needs. You will be resilient and prepared to go the extra mile to gain the rewards that come with a specialist support role. You will be flexible and able to work across the school – supporting pupils to access a differentiated curriculum. Particular personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with ASC and/or SLCN is essential, such as an understanding of the complexities related to these conditions.
The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of teaching and behaviour de-escalation strategies. The school takes great pride in their educational philosophy and put at the heart of learning, knowing that whatever they do the “children are first.” A Team-Teach qualification or relevant qualification (e.g. MAPA) are highly desirable but not essential. Prospero are also offer a range of CPD courses including Team-Teach.
