A specialist SEMH school in Burnley is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support. This specialist provision caters to secondary aged children with a diverse range of SEMH needs, requiring a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant.

The Role – SEMH Teaching Assistant

You will support pupils through 1:1 mentoring, small-group interventions, and classroom support, helping them regulate behaviour, engage with learning, and develop confidence.

A key part of the role involves building trust, maintaining consistency, and acting as a positive role model.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work under the guidance of experienced SEN professionals to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of complex needs. Using individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), you will help create and deliver effective interventions designed to maximise engagement and progress in this SEMH Teaching Assistant role.
