Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm

About the School

We are working in partnership with a well-regarded and forward-thinking secondary school that is seeking to appoint a dedicated and knowledgeable English Teacher from September 2026.

The Role

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will play a key role in developing students’ literacy skills, critical thinking, and appreciation for literature.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured English lessons in line with the national curriculum
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies accordingly
  • Prepare pupils for GCSE examinations, ensuring strong outcomes
  • Create an inclusive and focused classroom environment with clear expectations for behaviour
  • Contribute to the development of the English curriculum and departmental initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and senior leaders to support student achievement

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Have experience teaching English within a secondary school setting
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a passion for literature and language
  • Possess effective classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Be committed to raising attainment and supporting student progress
  • Contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive team environment

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Two professional references relating to working with children
