Secondary Cover Supervisor

Prospero Teaching is recruiting confident and reliable Secondary Cover Supervisors to work in schools across the Southampton area. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable classroom experience while supporting schools and students on a day‑to‑day or long‑term basis.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring students remain on task and engaged with the work that has been set. This role is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, sports coaches, youth workers, tutors, and experienced education professionals looking to develop their experience within secondary education.

The Role:

• Supervise classes across KS3 and KS4 in the absence of the regular teacher
• Deliver pre‑planned lessons and ensure students complete set work
• Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment
• Manage behaviour in line with school policies
• Support students with classroom activities where required
• Cover a variety of subjects across the secondary curriculum
• Provide feedback to teaching staff following lessons
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working with young people
• Confident managing groups of students independently
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Calm, professional, and adaptable approach
• Able to build positive relationships with students and staff
• Good classroom management and organisational skills
• Graduates and aspiring teachers encouraged to apply
• Previous education, coaching, tutoring, or youth work experience beneficial

Contract Details:

• Position: Secondary Cover Supervisor
• Location: Southampton
• Start Date: ASAP
• Working Pattern: Full‑time or flexible opportunities available
• Pay Rate: Up to £130 per day
• Key Stages: KS3 & KS4

Experience, Training & Safeguarding:

• Experience working with young people essential
• Classroom experience desirable but not essential
• Safeguarding training can be provided
