Job description

I hope you are well.

We are currently looking for tutors and mentors to join our growing team in preparation for the new academic year.

At Prospero Teaching, we work closely with Local Authorities across the UK, particularly BCP and Dorset, to support children and young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to a range of needs, including SEN, SEMH, EBSA, and medical conditions.

Our roles focus on 1:1 tuition and mentoring, with an emphasis on relationship-building, confidence, and re‑engagement with learning, rather than traditional classroom teaching.

Example of a current outstanding referral =

DT4 – Year 4 (SEMH / Re-engagement Focus)

  • 1:1 Maths and English tuition (initially relationship-based)
  • 6 hour per week (potential to increase and initial hours will likely be reduced)
  • Focus on confidence building and gradual reintegration into education
  • young person has an EHCP which you can have access to once cleared for work
  • Would suit a calm, consistent tutor with understanding of SEMH and attachment needs
  • £25-£30 per hour

What We’re Looking For

  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children either in care or a UK based education setting
  • Understanding of SEN, SEMH, EBSA, or additional needs
  • Able to deliver flexible, child-led sessions
  • Strong focus on relationship building and emotional support

Flexibility & Opportunities

If you are looking to build a fuller timetable, we can support this by matching you with additional students.

We will always work around your availability, liaising with you and families to ensure placements fit your schedule and preferences.

Get in Touch

If you are interested in the above referral and the oppurtunities we have here at Prospero Teaching, please apply !

We are also happy to speak with anyone interested more generally in tuition or mentoring roles, and can arrange a call to discuss the wider opportunities available and how we can support you in these positions.

We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully working together to make a real difference in young people’s lives.
