KS1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Gorton

Are you passionate about making a real difference in young people’s lives? Do you have experience supporting children and young people with additional needs?

Prospero Teaching are currently recruiting for a dedicated and nurturing KS1 SEND Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Gorton on a full-time basis from September 2026.

The school is a large three-form entry setting and supports a high proportion of pupils with special educational needs and disabilities. Situated in one of Manchester’s most economically diverse communities, the school provides a rewarding environment where staff can support and inspire students to achieve their full potential.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children in KS1, particularly pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

About the Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within Key Stage 1.
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and achieving their individual learning targets.
  • Support the social, emotional, and behavioural development of children, promoting confidence and independence.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning and support plans.

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Experience working in primary school
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND
  • A nurturing, patient and proactive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one
  • References covering the last 24 months
