Prospero Teaching is proud to work alongside Local Authorities, schools, and SEND services to provide tailored tuition for young people who require additional support outside of mainstream education.

We are currently recruiting Functional Skills Tutors in to deliver personalised English and Maths tuition to students with a variety of learning needs and educational backgrounds.

In this role, you will support learners who may have SEND, SEMH, anxiety, medical needs, or other barriers that have impacted their access to education. Through one-to-one or small group sessions, you’ll deliver engaging, individualised learning that helps students develop essential skills, increase their confidence, and make meaningful progress towards their educational goals.

Position Details:

• Pay: Up to £30 per hour (depending on experience/qualifications)
• Hours: Up to 15 hours per week
• Start Date: ASAP
• Location: Houghton le Spring
• Ongoing Role

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver 1:1 tutoring in Functional Skills Maths and/or English
• Create personalised lesson plans to address learning gaps
• Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to students and families
• Foster a supportive and motivating learning environment
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports

Requirements:

• Previous experience in Functional Skills (Maths and English)
• Right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS (child workforce) on the update service, or willing to apply
• Two years of references (education or employment)
