Are you an inspirational and experienced English Teacher who is looking to have a positive impact on the lives of pupils who face barriers to learning? If so, we want to hear from you today!

Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic English Lead to promote the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational PRU Settings in Newcastle on a full-time and long-term basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.

About the Role:

  • The role will involve planning and teaching engaging and informative English lessons that inspire pupils with a wide range of SEN and allows all pupils to make progress.
  • Working with Secondary aged pupils within a PRU setting who have a wide range of SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small Intervention groups
  • The role will involve designing, planning and implementing an English curriculum
  • Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner
  • Differentiating lessons appropriately to suit the needs and earning styles of all pupils.
  • Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress
  • Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
  • Working effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience

About the School:

  • The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Newcastle.
  • The School supports pupils across the Secondary School age range who have been excluded from mainstream Education

Pay, Hours and Contract:

  • Pay – Between £140-220 per day
  • Hours – 08.30-16.00
  • Contract – Full-time until the end of the Academic Year in July 2027. Temporary Contract.
  • Start Date – ASAP or from September
  • Location – Newcastle

Experience/Qualifications and Requirements:

  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you)
  • English Teaching experience
  • Strong Behaviour Management skills
  • Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress
  • Strong relationship-building skills with an ability to build rapport
  • A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work
  • A genuine passion for Teaching and supporting young people develop their skills
  • Strong organisation and communication skills
