Prospero Teaching are working with a well‑established secondary school to recruit a confident and reliable Cover Teacher to support teaching and learning across the school on a term‑time only basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young people and is looking to gain further experience in a school environment.

The Role

As a Cover Teacher, you will be responsible for supervising whole classes during the short‑term absence of teaching staff. Work will be pre‑planned, and your focus will be on maintaining a positive learning environment, keeping students on task, and upholding high behavioural and learning standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes across a range of subjects using lesson plans set by teaching staff
• Maintain good order and promote positive behaviour in line with school policies
• Ensure students remain engaged with learning activities
• Register and record student attendance
• Support the inclusion and wellbeing of all students
• Collect completed work and return it to the appropriate teacher
• Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, confidentiality, and data protection procedures at all times

Requirements

• Previous experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, coaching, etc.)
• Strong classroom presence and the ability to manage behaviour calmly and confidently
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A proactive, professional, and flexible approach
• An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

Experience as a Cover Teacher is desirable but not essential – full guidance and support can be provided.

Hours & Pay

• Hours: Approximately 32.5 hours per week (school day hours)
• Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, term time only
• Pay: Competitive and in line with experience
