Cover Supervisor

Prospero Teaching is recruiting confident and dependable Cover Supervisors to support secondary and primary schools across the Southampton area. This role involves stepping into lessons in the absence of the class teacher, delivering pre‑set work, and ensuring pupils remain engaged and productive.

You will take responsibility for maintaining order in the classroom, supporting students with their work, and upholding behaviour expectations. This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, teaching assistants, tutors, youth workers, or coaches who are looking to gain practical experience in a school environment.

Work is available on a full‑time or flexible day‑to‑day basis, depending on your availability.

The Role:

• Deliver pre‑prepared lesson materials across a variety of subjects
• Supervise pupils and maintain effective classroom routines
• Manage behaviour in line with school policies
• Support students with tasks and lesson engagement
• Cover lessons across different subjects when required
• Provide cover for pre‑planned and short‑notice absences
• Maintain a calm and organised learning environment
• Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently

Ideal Candidate:

• Experience working with young people (education, coaching, mentoring, etc.)
• Confident leading a classroom independently
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Calm, adaptable, and professional approach
• Comfortable covering multiple subjects
• Graduates and aspiring teachers encouraged to apply

Contract Details:

• Position: Cover Supervisor
• Location: Southampton
• Start Date: ASAP
• Working Pattern: Full‑time or day‑to‑day
• Pay Rate: Up to £130 per day
• Key Stages: KS3-KS4

Experience, Training & Safeguarding:

• Experience working with young people essential
• Behaviour‑management experience beneficial
• Safeguarding training can be provided
