Behavioural Mentor

  • Location: Buckinghamshire
  • Hours: Part‑time
  • Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour
  • Start Date: ASAP

The focus of this role is to re‑engage young people with learning, build emotional resilience, and develop essential functional and life skills in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver bespoke intervention sessions that support emotional wellbeing, resilience, and re‑engagement
  • Build a consistent, trusting relationship with the young person
  • Implement self‑regulation strategies and promote positive behaviour and confidence
  • Collaborate with families and professionals to ensure cohesive support
  • Track and report progress in both emotional development and engagement

Requirements

  • Experience with SEMH or similar behavioural/emotional needs
  • Ability to build rapport quickly and create a safe learning space
  • Calm, nurturing, patient approach to managing behaviour and emotional dysregulation
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one

Desirable Experience

  • Youth work or PRU background
  • Training in de‑escalation (Team Teach, MAPA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of restorative practice and trauma‑informed approaches
